What is our 'Flagship Program'?

An important function of the Smart Future Foundation is to provide disadvantaged primary school children with "start up packs" (backpacks) containing various equipment and other needs to allow them to engage fully in their schooling. In addition to this we support other worthwhile charitable organizations.

What is the Smart Future Foundation School Ambassador?

The Smart Future Foundation Ambassador is the student co-ordinator at the school. The school can have more than one ambassador. They are students in year 6 or 7 who are sometimes but not always in the Leadership group. Ambassadors will need to be:

• energetic;
• kind;
• have creative ideas;
• and want to help others.

What do they do?

A school ambassador works with a teacher to organise school fundraising events to raise funds to assist more needy children.

How do I become a Smart Future Foundation Ambassador?

Ideas and Suggestions

Getting Started

Meet with the other Student Ambassadors to make plans. If you are the only one at your school perhaps some of your friends will make suggestions and help you. Once you have an idea for a fundraising event:

• Discuss it first with the teacher coordinator/Principal to make sure it is okay

• Plan when/where/how it will take place. It is always a good idea to keep minutes of your meetings that include:

• Date of meeting

• Those present

• Apologies (for those that couldn't make it)

• Actions decided

• Give other students jobs so you don't have to do it all yourself. These could include:

• Making posters/publicizing the event

• Making announcements on the school's public address system (PA) or at assemblies

• Being the money collectors

• Assisting on the day of the event

And remember you can also ask teachers and other adults to help. This might be important to organise getting the money you raised to the Smart Future Foundation.

• Frequently visit the Smart Future Foundation website - Bookmark it. Share your ideas with others and look at what they are doing to get ideas.

• As a 'rule of thumb' plan for one fundraiser each semester. You don't want to overdo it. Plan well ahead.

• Share your successes with others by working with your teacher coordinator or Principal to put updates in the school newsletter. You can also get ideas and share information from the Smart Future Foundation website. E.G How much have all of the participating schools raised as a combined total so far this year? What is the target figure for the year?

Fundraising Events

Talk to your classmates and others to select fundraising events that are:

• Easy to organise

• Don't disrupt the school's programs too much

• Have the blessing of the staff coordinator/Principal

• Fun!!

• Dress up days

• Sportsperson day

• Book Character (Ideal for Book Week)

• Pioneer Day (Ideal during West Week to commemorate Foundation Day)
